8ft Quick Up Paddling Pool
£29.39
“Woweeee if we’re going to splash it to Mummy and Daddy they need their swimming costumes on … Daddy’s got little swimming shorts hasn’t he” - Lillie
“I like that .. I can get in it too” - Mummy
“You know your paddling pool is too big when the kids start using the old one as a dinghy” - Daddy
“Umpooool” - Ted
It became clear when we dusted off the old paddling pool this year that Lil and Ted had outgrown it somewhat, so we dutifully searched high and low for the best that the supermarkets had to offer. Unfortunately (like everything else remotely related to “summer”) they’d all sold out about 10 minutes after the mercury rose above 20C.
Argos however, god bless ‘em and their warehouse approach, were still capable of supplying the Great British Public with seasonal goods despite the rush of dads in shorts, socks and shoes. We went for the 8ft Quick Up Pool which promised speedy setup and fill-up and the perfect dimensions for our terrace garden. Compared to other far smaller pools which only cost around £10 less, this really is cracking value for money (especially as we got £5 off too!).
As for assembly, simply lay it out flat, pump up the single outer ring (which only takes a couple of minutes with a decent foot pump) and then pop in the hose and you can retire to the comfort of your deck chair. It does take a fair old while to fill up (especially if you’re on a shared mains water supply like us) but as long as you smooth it out and pump it up properly it’s ready and safe for use as soon as there’s a couple of inches of water in it, about the right amount of time to cover the kids in sunscreen and dig out your Speedo’s.
Don’t forget to empty the used water onto your flower beds, baskets and tubs! Buy it now at Argos.

Daddy.

We got one too! Recommend getting a cover (£3.89 at Tesco) which allows you to leave it up after the two hours taken to fill it without getting all manner of wildlife, fauna and flauna joining in the party! Will let you know how long it takes for algae to form! - also not sure whether you might have to chemically treat the water if you leave it up for a long time?
Ted does his own chemical treatment of the water I think :S leaves and frogs are the least of our worries.
Only problem is it turns the grass to slime - we left it up so Nanna & Gramps (can’t guarantee they weren’t using it hot tob style with glass of champers in the evenings…) could keep the kids amused the other week in our absence and returned to quagmire.
