Father’s Day Reviewed

tobleroneYes it’s a commercialised celebration and yes it’s a pain trying to think of something to buy your Dad (check out our guide here) but you know what, when you’re on the receiving end there’s something quite nice about having your fatherly efforts rewarded.

As a relatively inexperienced Dad (this is only my third fathers day), I’m not quite sure how far I can push the boundaries of this special day just yet. I reckon in a few years time I’ll have nailed it and me, Gray and Ben (fellow Dads) will have used it as an excuse to book an entire weekend away based around beer.

Until that momentous occasion, I’m more than chuffed with the bounty on offer in reward for just doing your job as a fair-to-middling father. This year I was the lucky recipient of a lie-in until 9am, breakfast in bed (waffles, syrup and cripsy bacon with fresh orange juice and coffee) and a trio of Toblerone’s (traditional milk chocolate, new fangled honeycomb crisp and fruit & nut). Then there’s the home made cards … awesome, truly awesome.

The only thing was, it made me feel really guilty that I wasn’t doing the same for my Dad .. although, to be fair he does live over 150 miles away … but that probably doesn’t excuse the fact that his card didn’t get there until today (traditionally known as Fathering Monday). Anyway, it’s not my fault … bloomin Royal Mail .. First Class my **** .. see I really am getting into the whole Dad role.

So thanks Lil n Ted (and Mummy!), you really made my day .. just stop eating my Toblerone now please or I’ll be forced to hide it in the shed with the spiders.

Daddy.
