‘Have you got boobs Mummy? They’re for milk aren’t they? Will I have boobs soon?’ - Lillie
Milkies Milk Savers are a good concept…a bit like the breast shells, you basically put it over the breast that you are not nursing on at feed time, and it collects any leaking milk.
I personally dont leak any, only the odd drop, but for someone that loses a lot (apparently some lose between 1-4oz!) it would definitely be handy.
The milk is collected in the cup for you to store. It suggests that if you lose a lot to attach a milk storage bag to it with an elastic band. I’m not sure how well this would work - perhaps there should be some kind of attachment already on the product to make it easier. I couldn’t try it because I dont keep elastic bands in the house, and I’m sure I’m not the only one (Mummy can confirm she only has only recently acquired laccy bands for the creation of a model of a human cell using marbles, match sticks and play doh).
My main criticism with the Milkies Milk Saver is the size. It’s pretty huge. If you’re wearing a nursing bra and have it open, the cup sits inside, but there is no way this is ever going to fit into a ‘normal’ bra. It’s far from discreet, and if I was feeding in public I certainly wouldn’t have the other side of my bra open with the cup poking out - it’s definitely an ‘at home’ gadget.
The only difference really between this and the shells is that this is much bigger for larger amounts of milk loss. If, like me, you dont lose much, I wouldnt bother.
